Jack & Lupa : A Trans Couple
I am a 35 year old FTM from Miami Florida. I currently reside in Conley GA with my wife, who is also transgender. I knew I was a boy from a very early age and was attracted to all things that was male. I was taken to therapist after therapist to find out what was wrong with me. None of them knew anything about transgender back in the 80’s, 90’s so I was constantly misdiagnosed. I did not speak to no one only my sister to a point my mom throught i was deaf and would not speak. When she put in school she put in a deaf school. I started dressing male at the age of 10, but was often forced to dress as a female. That was torture to me. At age 28, I made the decision to transition. I started using honey and other natural testosterone boosters. When I started HRT, at the age of 32, my testosterone level was 58, which is above the female range.I started HRT on March 31, 2016 in Miami Florida with a dosage of .01. Around that same time, I met my future wife through Facebook. We talked hours each day and it was decided that I would move in with her in Macon Georgia. On April 7, 2016, I left my family and most of my belongings, climbed into my car, drove to Georgia, and met my future wife in person for the first time. I proposed to her on May 7, 2016. We had friends over and everyone was drinking. I don’t know if it was the alcohol or not, but she said yes after I proposed to her in front of all our friends in the classic style. I dropped to one knee, showed her the ring I had for her, and asked her to marry me. When she said yes, the room broke out in applause. It was the start of a wonderful adventure.Being part of a trans-couple has its own benefits and challenges. When you are feeling dysphoria, your partner understands completely and know how to offer comfort and support. We have become advocates and activists for the transgender community. I am currently a community outreach organizer for TRANScending Barriers Atlanta also attending Trans Action Leaderships Academy with Georgia Equality. Which i graduate on april 2019. Most of time im helping Transmen in Atlanta how to enroll for health insurance and to get your top surgrey covery as well. As far as my transtion goes i got my t shot on March 31, 2016 (trans day of invisibility ) on nov 1,2016. I got my gender legally change. After that in 2017 i was unable to anything as far as my transition goes. I was in very dark place where i was very unhappy didnt even know if i was going to make it to the next day. I stay in my room for hours. When i decided to try get more support and move to atlanta Ga. In January 23,2018 i got my name change and april i move to CONLEY GA. Where i got health insurance. In july 2018 florida change the law for transgender to change there name & gender on there birth certificate i got my new certificate in oct 2018. Soon after that i was able to get my top surgrey in November 16, 2018 now working on other steps throws my transition. Throughout all of this, I have continued my transition into the man I always knew I was meant to be. My wife has been by my side the entire journey. We want to eventually adopt a child. My wife is 22 years older than I am, so we cannot wait too long. Her dream is to become a mother, and mine is to be a Father. We will be putting paper work in for fostering a child between the month of feb to April. I want to create my own family. My heart know i am a man i want to be a father so bad. It hurt me when my partents and my family misgender me. Only 8 i hear from seen i move is mom my dad refused to talk to me my sister call me one a month and also misgender me the same as my brother. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I continue to march into the light with my wife by my side. We have done several videos documenting our transition thus far. I have also created Facebook page called FtM Please Stand Up which I hope to use to help transmen be more visible in our community, since every time i talk to a cisgender person. They state to im first transmen they meet.
